GLENROSE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION | 23 At Alberta Blue Cross, community involvement is part of who we are. We know that strong communities can help people thrive, which is why we invest in programs and organizations making an impact in wellbeing across Alberta. By working alongside our partners and supporting programs and initiatives, we're helping build healthier, stronger, and more connected communities across the province. Helping Albertans THRIVE For nearly four decades, Alberta Blue Cross has been part of the Glenrose Hospital Foundation’s history. What began with a memorial donation in 1987 has grown into a nearly 40-year partnership built on a shared commitment to the health and wellbeing of Albertans. Over the years, Alberta Blue Cross has supported the Glenrose through community events and initiatives from the Glenrose Fun Fair in 1989 to the Heartbeat of Edmonton Road Race in 1992, which helped support the hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation program. Today, that longstanding relationship continues through support of Foundation events, including the Courage Awards and Courage Gala. Brian Geislinger, Alberta Blue Cross Senior Vice President, Corporate Relations and Community Engagement and guest at the 2025 Courage Gala. The hospital’s broader impact on Albertans is one of the reasons the work of the Glenrose continues to resonate with the organization. Through specialized programs, innovative therapies, and compassionate care, the Glenrose does much more than help people recover, it helps people rebuild their lives. At Alberta Blue Cross, philanthropy is woven into their culture, from corporate giving, employee giving campaigns, community investment, and volunteer initiatives. Their goal is to work alongside organizations that understand local needs and are making a difference in the lives of Albertans. “We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live life to the fullest,” says Geislinger. “We’re proud to support an organization that helps build brighter futures every day.” “Every one of us knows someone who has been supported by the Glenrose — whether colleagues, family members, neighbours, or friends,” says Brian Geislinger, Senior Vice President, Corporate Relations and Community Engagement at Alberta Blue Cross. “Alberta Blue Cross has become much more focused and purposeful in our community involvement over the years and today we are focused on supporting organizations that have a demonstrable positive impact on the wellbeing of Albertans. The work that the Foundation does to support the Glenrose directly aligns with this focus.” Today, that connection has only continued to deepen and grow. As Geislinger shares, rehabilitation care represents the opportunity for people to move forward after life changes their path. It can help someone recover skills, adapt to new circumstances, and pursue goals that may have once seemed impossible. “What makes rehabilitation care especially meaningful is the impact it has beyond the individual,” he says. “When people have access to the right support, it strengthens families, reduces barriers, and helps people stay connected to their communities.” We’re proud to support an organization that helps build brighter futures every day. – Brian Geislinger After nearly 40 years, the relationship between Alberta Blue Cross and the Foundation continues to evolve, but its purpose remains the same: helping Albertans thrive. – Brian Geislinger, Alberta Blue Cross
