Chadi Centre gives children a space designed just for them

The new Chadi Centre at the Glenrose provides a rehabilitation space designed specifically for children and youth

The Chadi Centre for Pediatric Rehabilitation, made possible by donors, provides a state-of-the-art space where young patients can feel safe and supported.

After an extensive renovation of the old space, the new Chadi Centre for Pediatric Rehabilitation officially opened its doors in 2021. The $1.9 million space was fully funded by the Foundation through the generosity of our donors and a lead gift by the Chadi Family Foundation.

“Many years ago, I was asked to join the board of the Glenrose Hospital Foundation, with a mandate to support the hospital with awareness, programing, equipment, and capital improvements wherever and whenever necessary. I discovered a facility that transforms lives and gives back hope. The patients, and particularly the pediatric patients, that receive treatment will melt your heart. Their demeanor, spirit, and ability to overcome will, without question, make any problem I faced completely minuscule and trivial,” says Sine Chadi, lead donor of the facility.

“We, the residents of Edmonton and Northern Alberta are most blessed to have a rehabilitation hospital like the Glenrose. This one-of-a-kind facility is often referred to as a place that gives a person’s life back after it was taken away by some terrible accident or debilitating illness, and without a doubt, this is most certainly true!  I am so proud that the Chadi Family  Foundation was able to help create the Chadi Centre for Pediatric Rehabilitation.”

The new centre is designed around the needs of the hospital’s youngest patients, with a wider, more open space, and specialized treatment areas like a pediatric gym, splint and casting room, and feeding and swallowing room. The entire centre is fully equipped with rehabilitation equipment built specifically for children and youth.

In its opening year, the centre saw over 3,800 patient visits, and expects to serve more than 6,000 patients annually.
