Meet the 2020 Courage Award Recipients

Each year staff at the Glenrose Hospital nominate their patients for the prestigious Courage Award. The criteria for nomination includes demonstrating courage and serving as a role model to other patients during their rehabilitation journeys. This year three inspiring individuals were chosen as recipients.

Ioan was in a car collision where he suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple bodily injuries. After almost four months in a children’s acute care hospital, Ioan came to the Glenrose Hospital for rehabilitation. Watch Ioan’s story

Bill had what he thought was an upper respiratory infection when he was taken by ambulance to the hospital. When he woke up, two-and-a-half weeks later, he was told he had just survived COVID-19 along with many complications. He came to the Glenrose Hospital with significant lung damage and reliant on oxygen. Watch Bill’s story

Herman was the innocent victim of a gunshot to the head. He was not expected to live but survived and came to the Glenrose Hospital for rehabilitation after months in intensive care. Herman’s goals were ambitious – relearn to walk, talk and drive his car. Watch Herman’s story
