Jessica DAmico

Dr. Jessica D'Amico

Scientific Program Lead

Dr. D’Amico brings a diverse background in neuroscience and rehabilitation science, shaped by her work in academic, industry, and international research environments. As an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta, she contributes to advancing the field through both research and collaboration.

With publications in leading journals like Nature Medicine and Nature Communications, Dr. D’Amico is dedicated to research that makes a real difference in people’s lives. Her work is driven by a passion for developing innovative solutions that support recovery and enhance the everyday experiences of those undergoing rehabilitation.

Andrew Chan

Dr. Andrew Chan

Senior Program Lead

Dr. Chan’s career path has taken a multidisciplinary route, beginning with a degree in mechanical biomedical engineering followed by medical school. With a strong interest in returning to technology development and research, he went on to complete a PhD in biomedical engineering and a postdoctoral fellowship in rehabilitation medicine. His work has focused on developing, validating, and evaluating technologies to support aging-in-place and improve access to care through digital health platforms.  

Since joining the research and innovation team in 2023, he has led efforts in technology development and industry partnerships, helping to introduce and test new innovations within the hospital. His research interests include clinical studies focused on older adults, with an emphasis on evaluating evidence and technologies that support rehabilitation and aging.  

Doug Hill

Doug Hill

Manager, Research & Innovation

As Manager of Research Innovation and Technology Development at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, Doug leads initiatives that drive forward-thinking approaches to rehabilitative care. With a background in computer engineering and an MBA, he brings a unique blend of both technical insight and strategic vision to his work.  

Beginning his career as a computer programmer, Doug’s professional career has spanned clinical innovation, health research ethics, and organizational leadership. Founder of the Canadian Paediatric Spine Society, his research interests centre around spinal deformities. In addition to his role at the Glenrose, Doug serves as Associate Chair of the Health Research Ethics Board – Health Panel, representing Alberta Health Services.
