Research & Innovation

Advancing rehabilitation care through discovery.

At the Glenrose Hospital Foundation, we’re proud to champion a culture of inquiry, where curiosity drives change and bold ideas become everyday care.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re investing in research that supports more personalized, data-informed care. From advanced mobility aids and wearable technologies to AI-driven tools, virtual therapies, and clinical trials, innovations and research developed, tested, and validated at the Glenrose are helping patients recover faster and live fuller, more independent lives.

Your support helps fuel this momentum. Together, we can help improve outcomes for Albertans today, while shaping the future of rehabilitation medicine for tomorrow.

Your Support is Making a Meaningful Difference

At the Glenrose, innovation isn’t just an idea — it’s hands-on, patient-centered, and focused on real-world outcomes. Thanks to donor support, research is already driving meaningful change in patient care. Here’s how:

  • Smart rehabilitation technologies are improving outcomes by adapting in real time to meet each patient’s unique needs.
  • Wearable sensors and AI-assisted therapy tools are creating more precise treatment and accelerating recovery through personalized care.
  • Custom mobility solutions, co-designed by patients and caregivers, are enhancing everyday function and independence.
  • Virtual reality therapy platforms are making rehabilitation more engaging and effective, helping patients stay motivated and achieve better results.
  • Clinical trials are allowing us to rigorously evaluate new interventions and translate evidence into real-world practice.

And this is just the beginning. These innovations — and the breakthroughs still to come — are redefining what’s possible. We’re excited to see what’s next.

Our Pillars

At the Glenrose, research and innovation are embedded into every stage of care — from early ideas to real-world adoption. Our work is guided by:

  • Technology Development & Testing (Ideas to Product): From 3D printing braces to partnering with industry to scale solutions, we create clinical tools that make rehabilitation easier, more personalized, and more engaging.
  • Clinical Research (Ideas to Evidence): Neurorehabilitation research is the engine behind our innovations — driving the development of evidence-based therapies that advance recovery for individuals facing complex neurological conditions.
  • Evaluation & Implementation (Innovation to Standard of Care): To create real impact, new innovations must seamlessly integrate into clinical care. We evaluate digital platforms that expand access and test assistive technologies that support function, bringing proven ideas into everyday practice.

The Research & Innovation Team

Transforming care takes a collective effort, and it starts by bringing the right people together. At the Glenrose, our research and innovation team collaborates across disciplines, bringing together clinicians, researchers, patients, and industry partners to co-create solutions that are clinically relevant, scientifically validated, and grounded in live experience.

Your support helps us attract and retain top talent and the brightest minds in rehabilitation science.
